Jacksonville: A Big, Exciting City
Jacksonville is the largest city by population in Florida, and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. The Jacksonville beaches are adjacent to the beautiful Atlantic coast. The city is also home to a number of cultural events: The Jacksonville Jazz Festival, held in downtown, is the second largest jazz festival in the nation and Springing the Blues is one of the oldest blues festivals that has been held in Jacksonville Beach since 1990. Other festivals include The World of Nations Celebration, the Jacksonville Film Festival, and the Blessing of the Fleet. Performing arts are abound with the Florida Theatre, the Ritz Theatre, and the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts. If festivals or the performing arts fail to excite you, Jacksonville is home to one major league sports team, the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the fact that Jacksonville operates the largest urban park system in the U.S., providing facilities and services at more than 337 locations on 80,000 acres throughout the city.
